Psychology behind wanting to quit

Psychology behind wanting to quit

The desire of wanting to quit intensifies as you take days off from your goal. Too many people have been conditioned to believe that it is healthy to take days off when you are striving to achieve a goal. People should not take days off if they really want to achieve a goal.

People should put themselves in a position in which they can afford to take time off when striving toward a goal. If the time people can afford to take off has accumulated to more than 24 hours, then they can take a day off. Otherwise, people should be grinding. People must afford time off. This is coming from a different place when most people decide to “take” time off.

A lazy inner voice inside people’s mind begins toward to whisper when starting a goal. After some time pass while working hard on the goal, that voice will try shouting lazy thoughts in your mind. It will then try to get you to rationalize why you should take a break. Most people take the break without earning the break. As a result, most people never reach their goal because they are too lazy.

The lazy inner voice is the subconscious speaking. The ambitious voice it is speaking to is your conscious. Because you have a history of not possessing the habits required to reach your goal, it is easy for your subconscious to rationalize why you shouldn’t acquire new habits. Your conscious isn’t as emotional as your subconscious. It resides in the brain and not the heart. Your conscious understand that if you want something you never had, you have to do something you never done. Your subconscious and conscious are always fighting.

If you let your subconscious win the fight, you will not achieve your long term goal. However, there are instances when it is okay for the conscious to lose.

The subconscious should only win in the long term (when you’re old) or when you are embracing the present moment (on rare occasions).

In conclusion, the desire of wanting to quit is normal. Quitting, however, is also normal (given that most people are quitters). If you want to be successful, you cannot quit.
